University of Wisconsin Badgers

Bowl Preview- Outback Bowl, Wisconsin vs. Tennessee

New Year’s Day in Tampa…not a bad idea especially from someone writing from frigid New England.  And what better way to spend the first part of the day then to take in the Outback Bowl.  And the match-up isn’t bad…Wisconsin vs. Tennessee.

University of Wisconsin (9-3)

The Badgers had a respectable showing in the Big Ten, resulting in this New Year’s Day bowl bid.  Get the latest on their preparations directly from the team. As is the case with other universities, the student run Badger Herald is off on semester break.  Any Badger news on campus radio?  Check out WSUM.

Located in the capital of Madison, the team is covered by two newspapers, The Capital Times and the Wisconsin State Journal.  The Journal has dedicated reporting of the team.  The Times matches the coverage of its competitor.

Sports talk on the Badgers can be found on WTSO.  Listen on game day via the Wisconsin  Radio Network.

Local television coverage of the Badgers can be found on WISC, WKOW, and WMTV.

Independent blogs on the Badgers include Wisconsin Badger Sports Fan and Wisconsin Badger Sports.

University of Tennessee (9-4)

The Volunteers navigated the SEC right to the conference championship game before losing to LSU.  The team’s web page has the game completely covered from its point of view.  The Daily Beacon follows the team during the school year.  WUTK has the campus covered on radio.

The Knoxville News Sentinel has print coverage of the team.  The paper uses its sports section and special online pages to report on the Volunteers.

WNML is the sports radio station on the Knoxville radio dial.  Listen to the game on the Vol Radio Network.

On the TV side of things in Knoxville, check out the coverage from WATE, WBIR, WTNZ, and WVLT.

Voluminous and Rocky Top Talk appear to be the best of the independent Volunteer blogs.

Prepare your Bloody Mary and enjoy the game!
