NBC Sees Ratings Gains for Game One of Stanley Cup Finals

NBC Sports is reporting that Game One of the Stanley Cup Finals between the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks generated a national overnight rating of 3.2, up 14 % over last season (Flyers/Blackhawks) and the best Game One rating since 1999 (Buffalo/Dallas on Fox)

Boston led all local metered markets with an average rating of 25.5.  Here are the top 5 rated metered markets for Game One:

1. Boston, 25.5/39
2. Providence, 16.7/24
3. Buffalo, 7.2/11
4. Hartford, 5.5/8
5. Pittsburgh, 4.3/7

Game Two is set for Saturday night in Vancouver.

NBC/NHL See Highest Stanley Cup Ratings in 36 Years

The overnight ratings are in for last night’s Stanley Cup Finals clincher on NBC.

The network reports that the overnight rating was 5.8, the highest since Game 6 of the 1974 finals between the Bruins and Flyers.

The rating peaked for the final 15 minutes of the game (11-11:15 p.m. ET) with an 8.0 rating and 14 share. The 5.8 overnight is up 41 percent vs. last year’s 4.1/7 overnight for Game 6 between the then-defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings and the Pittsburgh Penguins, featuring Sidney Crosby.
