Game Preview- Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Indianapolis Colts

With all due respect to last night’s Packers/Cowboys contest, there may be a bigger game in the NFL this weekend.

With Green Bay and Dallas you had two teams that pretty much have their tickets punched for the playoffs and last night’s game was just for positioning in the NFC Playoffs.  Sunday’s game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Indianapolis Colts could determine the winner of the AFC South and may force the loser (although still in solid position of securing a playoff berth) into questioning whether they have what it takes to be successful in the post season.

As with all our game previews, we invite you to find out more about this match-up through the local sports media covering the teams…

Jacksonville Jaguars 8-3

Jacksonville is by far one of the smaller cities in Florida.  The Florida Times Union is the dominant newspaper in northeast Florida.  Their coverage of the Jags is pretty comprehensive.

The local sports radio scene in Jacksonville is what you would expect in a medium sized market.  You can get a smattering of Jags talk on WFXJ and more local talk out of WJXL.

Other than the newspaper and team websites, you can find independent blog action out of Big Cat CountryJaguars Gab, and Jaguars Locker.

Indianpolis Colts 9-2

The defending champs have the upper-hand in that they have a one game lead in the division and the game will be played in the RCA Dome.

Coverage of the Colts starts in the pages of the Indianapolis Star, the city’s leading newspaper.

Sports radio in Indy lacks local flavor.  There are two stations, ESPN’s WXLW and Fox’s WNDE.

The Colts do have a dedicated following in the blog-sphere.  Stampede Blue gets the lion-share of attention.  You can also find good stuff at Colts Influence, Indy Blue Crew, Colts Locker, and Colts Gab.

There you have it!  Show your friends how smart you are about this match-up and enjoy the game!
