ESPN Takes Wraps Off ACC Hoops Schedule

ESPN has released its 2011-2012 schedule of ACC basketball games.  As part of its 12-year agreement between the conference and the network last year, ESPN has exclusive rights to all conference games.

New this year will be ESPN’s addition of the ACC Sunday Night Basketball telecasts previously held by Raycom Sports.  Raycom will still air a number of ACC match-ups.

6.7 Million View Home Run Derby

ESPN reports that nearly 6.7 million viewers tuned in to Monday’s MLB State Farm Home Run Derby presentation.  That represents an increase of four percent over the 2010 event.  The rating for the derby was 4.7, up two percent from last year’s 4.6 rating.

ESPN also saw an uptick in interest in the home run derby on ESPN3.com.  Unique viewers online were up 21% compared to last year, with an average viewing time of 52 minutes.

ESPN Set For Extensive Coverage of the Open Championship

ESPN will be using the power of its multiple platforms to cover next week’s Open Championship from the Royal St George’s Golf Club in Sandwich, England.

ESPN will be providing 37 hours of television coverage during the course of the tournament July 14-17.  It will also provide the same coverage across ESPN3.com and ESPN Mobile TV.

ESPN also plans on providing encore coverage of the tournament from 7-10pm ET Thursday through Saturday with Sunday’s 7-10pm ET encore coming to ESPN2.  ESPN will also provide recaps each day of the tournament from 3pm-6pm.  Thursday and Friday’s recap will air on ESPN while Saturday and Sunday’s coverage will air on ABC.

ESPN Preps for Coverage of French Open

ESPN has unveiled its schedule of coverage of the upcoming Roland Garros, the 2011 French Open.

The network will provide over 56 hours of action beginning Sunday, May 22nd.  Its coverage will conclude June 2nd with the women’s semifinals.  It will also have over 350 hours of programming of the tournament on ESPN3.com.

NBA Playoffs on ABC See Ratings Boost

ESPN is reporting that the three NBA Playoff telecasts on ABC thus far this season have seen viewer increases of 27% over last year.

The three post season broadcasts have averaged 5.8 million viewers, up from 4.6 million viewers in 2010.  The average rating of 3.7 is 23% higher than the 3.0 number from last year.

Meanwhile  ESPN3.com has seen the total consumption of NBA playoff minutes online jump 281% over 2010.  There is also a 27% increase in daily unique visitors to the site since April 16th.

ESPN Mobile TV’s NBA section is also seeing an 57% increase in daily unique visitors over last year.
