Francona to Join Buck in Fox Booth for First Two Games of ALCS

Fox Sports today announced that former Red Sox Manager Terry Francona will serve as color analyst with play-by-play man Joe Buck for the first two games of the American League Championship Series (ALCS).

Francona will fill-in for Tim McCarver, who will be sidelined due to a minor heart-related procedure he will undergo later this week.  McCarver is expected to return to the booth with Buck for game three of the series on Tuesday night.

The ALCS begins this Saturday at 7:30p.m. ET.

Fox Adds Pierzynski to MLB Post Season Roster

Fox Sports announced today that White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski will join the network’s coverage of the American League Championship Series (ALCS) and World Series.

Pierzynski will join host Chris Rose and analyst Eric Karros live on-site for every postseason broadcast on Fox, beginning with the ALCS on October 8th.

“A.J. is intelligent, engaging and candid with a bit of an edge, every attribute we look for in an analyst,” said Fox Sports Executive Vice President/Coordinating Pregame/Studio Producer Scott Ackerson in a press release.  “He has 14 years of experience at the major league level, and he himself has had tremendous success in postseason play.  We’re confident he’ll provide our audience contemporary insight and will be a major asset to our broadcasts.”

“Nothing beats the intensity of playing in the playoffs and World Series, but if I can’t be a part of the action on-field, joining the MLB on FOX team is the next best thing,” said Pierzynski. “Everyone knows that I’m not one to hold back, so I’m looking forward to watching this season’s best teams compete this October and giving fans my honest opinion about their performance.”
