Dan Hicks to Take Over Call of Notre Dame Football for NBC

NBC Sports announced yesterday that beginning this season Dan Hicks will replace Tom Hammond on the play-by-play call of Notre Dame football.  Hicks will be paird with analyst Mike Mayock and reporter Alex Flanagan.

Hicks will continue to work as the host of NBC’s golf coverage, and will return for NBC’s Olympic telecast of the 2014 Sochi Olympics and the 2016 Rio Olympics.

“Dan is a gifted commentator, and we wanted to find more high-profile opportunities to showcase his talents,” said Sam Flood, Executive Producer, NBC Sports & NBC Sports Network. “Coming off an undefeated regular season and a berth in the BCS Championship Game, Notre Dame Football provides a perfect platform.”

Hicks will begin his new role this Saturday at the annual Blue-Gold spring game which will air on the NBC Sports Network beginning at 1:00p.m. ET.

Hammond had been the main voice on NBC’s coverage of Notre Dame since 1992. He will remain at the network as the voice of Triple Crown horse racing, figure skating, including at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, and track & field at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
