All NFL Media is Local- 2013 NFC Championship Game

We have built up a section of our site that links to a post on each team in the NFL and the local media outlets that cover that team.  It’s a one-stop-shop for fans to get information on their favorite team through some of the people and organizations who cover them every day.

For the NFL Conference Championships we will re-post the entries for each team, as a way for you to get ready for the game, again, through the work of the local media in each market.

Here is a look at the broadcast information and local media outlets covering the San Francisco 49ers and the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Championship Game:


National Television:  Fox Sports.  Pre-game coverage starts at 2:00p.m. ET with Curt Menefee, Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, Michael Strahan and Jimmy Johnson.  Kick-off is 3:00p.m. ET with Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, Pam Oliver and Erin Andrews on the call.

National Radio–  Dial Global is the national radio rights holder for the game.  Dave Simms, James Lofton and Tony Boselli describe the action.

San Francisco 49ers Local Media

Newspaper- The dominant daily in the city is the San Francisco Chronicle.   Its online sports page (and the rest of the paper online) is part of SF  The sports section has a page dedicated to the 49ers. Beat writers Kevin Lynch (Twiiter) and Eric Branch (Twitter) also maintain the Niner Insider blog.  With columnists like Scott Ostler (Twitter) you can expect plenty to be written about the Niners.

Sports Radio- KNBR and KSAN serve as the flagships to the 49er Radio Network.  Ted Robinson (Twitter) handles play-by-play with Eric Davis (Twitter) adding commentary.  KNBR and KGMZ are two outlets for sports radio talk on the 49ers.

Television- KGOKNTVKPIXKTVU are the major television outlets in San Francisco.  Comcast SportsNet Bay Area also covers the team.

Blogs-  Check out Niners Nation49ers GabNiners Noise, and the team’s own Goal Posts Blog for some independent Niner talk.

Atlanta Falcons Local Media

Newspaper-  The Atlanta Journal Constitution serves the greater metro Atlanta area.  Its online sports section appears to be laid out well.  It includes a special page of content on the Falcons.  Beat reporter D. Orlando Ledbetter (Twitter) has his own blog.  Columnists Mark Bradley (Twitter) and Jeff Shultz (Twitter) will have also have content on the Falcons.

Sports Radio- Sports Radio 790 The Zone serves as the flagship station for the Falcons Radio NetworkWes Durham and Dave Archer  (Durham Twitter) (Archer Twitter) provide the play-by-play and commentary for each game.  Along with The Zone Falcons talk can be heard on WCNN.

Television- Check out television coverage of the Falcons on WAGAWSB, and WXIA.  Fox Sports South also
