It was known for over a month that Darren Rovell would be leaving CNBC to rejoin ESPN, but it was formally announced by the WWL yesterday.
Rovell will be the network’s business reporter in a multi-platform role — television, digital and ESPN Radio — and will also contribute to ABC News, including Good Morning America, World News with Diane Sawyer andNightline. . Rovell last worked for ESPN from 2000-2006.
“While ESPN is known for games and highlights, it is also about helping fans win the battles at the office water cooler or at the kitchen table,” Rovell said in a press release. “You can’t be a great fan without understanding the intricacies of the sports business. I look forward to bringing viewers, readers and listeners the stories of what happens off the field and behind closed doors that fuels this massive industry.”
