NFC Wildcard Match-Up: Philadelphia Eagles vs. Minnesota Vikings

Here is a preview of the Sunday’s NFC Wildcard game bwteen the Philadeplphia Eagles and the Minnesota Vikings via the local media outlets covering each team:

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

Let’s check out the City of Brotherly Love and the local media that covers the Philadelphia Eagles

Newspaper-  Philadelphia is a two newspaper town owned by one company.  Both papers are housed within the same web site.  The Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News sports sections seems devoid of any page dedicated to the Eagles.   The Daily News beat writers do maintain a blog.  The Inquirer also has a blog, but it’s not easy to find.  The host philly.com site, however, does have a dedicated Eagles page which encompasses both newspapers’ content.

Sports Radio- WYSP serves as the flagship in the Eagles Radio Network.  Merrill Reese serves as the play-by-play voice, joined by Mike Quick with analysis.  Philly fans are fortunate to have two sports radio stations to follow the team; powerhouse WIP and WPEN.

Television- Television outlets in Philadelphia include KYW, WCAU, WPVI, and WTXF.

Blogs- Check out Bleeding Green NationIggles Blog, Eagles Locker, and Bleed Eagles Green for independent writing on the Eagles.

MINNESOTA VIKINGS

We continue our look at the local media contingent covering their NFL clubs.  Today we go to the Twin Cities and look at the reporters who follow the Minnesota Vikings

Newspaper-  The largest newspaper in the region is the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.  They appear to have a fairly comprehensive sports section, including an area dedicated to the Vikes.  Beat writers Judd Zulgad and Chip Scoggins maintain the paper’s Access Vikings blog.  With the legendary Sid Hartman as one of its columnists, you are guaranteed some great material from the Trib.

Sports Radio- Sports radio KFAN serves as the flagship of the Vikings Radio Network.  Paul Allen serves as the radio play-by-play voice, joined in the booth by Peter Bercich.  The FAN is also the best place for Vikings talk on non-game days.

Television- KARE, KMSP, KSTP, and WCCO are the main television outlets that cover the Vikings.

Blogs-  The following independent blogs are another resource for Vikings fans; Purple Pride, Daily Norseman, The Viking Age, and Purple Pride.

  1. GBJersey-Longtime Vikes fan from the 70’s and live between Giants and Eagles territory. Sounds like no one is giving the Vikings a shot on Sunday and I think personally that if our offensive coordinator doesnt get a little more inventive with the play calling and decides to send Peterson between the tackles on every freakin running play then they are probably right! This team needs to mix it up and cannot afford to waste running plays for one and two yards! Also where has the crowd been? Watching the game against Atlanta two weeks ago and could not believe it was the Metrodome!!!!!!
