Bowl Preview- PetroSun Independence Bowl, Alabama vs. Colorado

Sometimes the lesser profile bowls get some marquee match-ups.  Such is the case with the PetroSun Independence Bowl featuring Alabama and Colorado.

To get prepared for the game, let’s get a look at the teams through the media outlets that cover them…

University of Alabama (6-6)

The Crimson Tide did not have the season supporters expected, limping into the game losers of their last four games.  Insight on the team can be found through it’s web page.  If students were on campus, you may be able to get information from the University’s student newspaper, The Crimson White.  I also doubt that campus radio stations WQPR or WUVA will have much on the game.

The University is located in Tuscaloosa, AL where the Tuscaloosa News is the daily newspaper.  Get the latest on the Tide from its sports section and dedicated University content.  Included is a closer look at the bowl game.

In terms of sports radio, there are some options for Tide talk.  Find out at WJOXWSPZ and WACT.  Listen to the game on the Crimson Tide Radio Network.

Local television coverage includes WCFT, WBRC, WIAT, and WVTM.

Among the independent Alabama sports blogs, Roll Bama Roll and Alabama Crimson Tide seem to be the best.  If I am wrong, let us know in the comments.

University of Colorado (6-6)

The Buffalos also relied on its pedigree to gain the bowl invitation after finishing at .500.  The latest directly from the Buffs can be found hereThe Campus Press student newspaper is on winter hiatus.  KVCU radio looks like it is more interested in music than the game.

The Boulder Daily Camera is the city’s largest newspaper.  They have the Buffaloes covered in its sports section and its BuffZone.  Find out more from the Denver Post and the Rocky Mountain Daily News.

Sports radio in Denver is dominated by KKFN.  Also in town is KPEN.  On the day of the game listen in on the Colorado Football Network.

Local television coverage of the team can be found on KCNC, KDVR, KMGH, KUSA, and KWGN.

Independent Colorado blog Buffs.tv seems to be the best out there.  If there are others, send them along in the comments.

One team will end 2007 with a winning record, the other a losing one.  What’s your guess?
